Community and Inclusivity
A diverse and respectful community is the foundation of responsible leadership. Through thoughtful design and consultation, our expansion will cultivate a universal sense of belonging, safety and acceptance with barrier-free learning, cultural, service and social spaces that honour the dignity of all people.
Respectful. Welcoming. Accessible.
A collaborative and vibrant culture is one in which everyone in our community can thrive; where all voices, experiences, ideas and identities contribute to making the school a more welcoming and enriching place to study, work and build lasting connections.
Inclusive Gathering Spaces
Inclusive gathering spaces will acknowledge the school’s location on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Musqueam people. Programming could include gatherings sharing Indigenous business and ceremonial functions related to UBC Sauder students and their programs of study.

Childcare Centre
A 15,000 sq ft childcare centre will reflect the future of business, where work life and family life are intertwined. Providing much-needed daycare space for 50 children in the UBC community, we will help reduce barriers to access for young families and demonstrate our commitment to the next next generation.

Flexible, Accessible and Safe Spaces
Flexible, accessible and safe spaces will support our diverse community from around Canada and the world, ensuring people of all abilities and learning styles can succeed and thrive. Features such as braille, gender-neutral washrooms, prayer and meditation spaces, and a breastfeeding room are just the beginning.

UBC Sauder is deeply committed to continually building and enhancing the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across the school. Learn more about our efforts in this ongoing journey, including our 2021-2022 Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Annual Report.
“It’s going to have elements that are purposeful and thoughtfully put into place that will psychologically allow for feelings of belonging, inclusion, safety, and accessibility.”
