Society is changing.
Business is changing.
So are we.

New knowledge, new ways of thinking, new business solutions.

That’s the promise of UBC Sauder’s Powerhouse Project that will be constructed next to our current facilities at the site of the former UBC Power House, originally built in 1925. This stunning new flagship building will advance the student experience, expand enrolments through programs that leverage the school’s strengths and make space for the transformative future of business education.
This new flagship building will offer versatile spaces, progressive programming and opportunities for learning, research and community engagement consistent with our position as one of the world’s finest business schools. The state-of-the-art facility will bring students, faculty, alumni, community and industry leaders together to reimagine the future of business. It will provide our growing population with much-needed new space and programming to ensure UBC Sauder graduates become the drivers of change in their industries through:
  • More opportunities for experiential learning
  • Support for new ventures, technology solutions and job creation
  • New interdisciplinary graduate degrees and programs responding to industry needs
  • Flexible spaces for new technologies, hybrid delivery and evolving teaching and learning styles
  • Greater connections with alumni, the business community and industry leaders

Pillars

The Powerhouse Project will help unlock UBC Sauder’s potential to create new solutions for society in three important and interrelated areas: innovation and entrepreneurship, finance and climate action.
A diverse and respectful community is the foundation of responsible leadership. Through thoughtful design and consultation, our expansion will cultivate a sense of belonging, safety and acceptance with spaces that honour the dignity of all people.

Collaboration

The new building will provide a flexible, connected and highly interactive platform for the creative and innovative work that happens through collaborative learning.

Reconciliation

The centrality of the Powerhouse Project site gives UBC Sauder an opportunity to strengthen connections with Indigenous people and communities and to ensure a holistic approach to collaborating with the Musqueam.

Inclusion

Students rely on their university experience to grow their skills and networks; to this end, community is created through a sense of belonging, safety and acceptance at UBC Sauder.
The Powerhouse Project will provide much-needed space for our students, faculty and broader community to reach their full potential. We will leverage this new space to build on our leadership in climate solutions, innovation and entrepreneurship, responsible business in finance, and in our commitments to reconciliation.
